HSMAI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The HSMAI Foundation, which has been providing scholarships to students pursuing a career in hospitality sales and marketing since 1983, awards merit scholarships to full-time students in the Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Candidate category, and merit scholarships to part-time students pursuing Associate, Baccalaureate or Graduate Degrees.

HSMAI FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF 2007 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Four students pursuing careers in hospitality sales and marketing have been awarded scholarships from the Foundation of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). Sponsored by American Express, the merit scholarships have been awarded to the full-time students in the Baccalaureate and Graduate Degree Candidate category.
The 2007 recipients are Matthew Ardakanian, Alissa Biel, Jonathan Kim, and Lynn Slupski.

* Matthew Ardakanian expects to graduate from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in May 2008 with a major in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management and a Minor in Business Administration. He has held hospitality related positions at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey, and for the past year has been in an internship program with JP Morgan Chase. He provided volunteer assistance at the HSMAI Adrian Awards dinner in New York City in January 2007, and has been an HSMAI member for more than a year.
* Jonathan Kim expects to graduate from the Preston Robert Tisch Center of Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management at New York University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science. He has been a member of HSMAI for almost two years and is the Vice Chair of the Student Chapter at NYU. He is proud of his contribution to the great turnouts at student meetings and at the HSMAI Big Apple chapter events and luncheons. Jonathan has held internships at the Crowne Plaza Times Square and the Hotel Roger Williams in New York City.

* Lynn Slupski holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from Ferris State University College of Business in Michigan and expects to earn her Master of Science in Hospitality Management at Baltimore International College, Baltimore, Maryland, in December 2008. She has worked at the Baltimore Country Club, the Detroit Marriott Renaissance, and the Holiday Inn Express at Port Huron, Michigan.
* Alissa Biel expects to graduate with a Bachelor of Science from Boston University School of Hospitality Administration in May 2008. She has completed internships with Courtyard by Marriott in Mahwah, New Jersey and the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, and is a member of HSMAI. Hospitality is a family business for Alissa; her parents own a restaurant in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
For eligibility, students must be enrolled in a hospitality management or related curriculum and pursuing a degree, have demonstrated hospitality work experience, possess an interest in a career in hospitality sales and marketing, and be in good academic standing.
