I Am a Member Because...

"As a former corporate hotel sales and marketing executive and current hospitality faculty member, I have always found HSMAI to be a wonderful source of professional training and development." -- Kimberly A. Tranter, M.B.A., CHE, Johnson & Wales University-Denver

"I chose HSMAI as a faculty member because it provided a great way for me to keep up to date with the hospitality marketing industry. With budgets being cut, my membership to HSMAI is a very affordable way for me to receive staff development credit."  -- Mark Newton, Ed.D., Gwinnett Technical College

Call for Papers

The HSMAI Sales & Marketing Faculty Special Interest Group is seeking submission of applied research papers for presentation to faculty in conjunction with several HSMAI events, including:

Researchers are encouraged to first submit a 2 to 3 page proposal of 1) work in progress, or 2) previously (6 -12 months) published papers (with journal approval) for presentation or 3) new ideas to provide both provocative insights and clarity on hospitality marketing related issues.

SUBMISSION PROCESS:  Call is open ONLY to faculty not businesses who conduct research. Proposals will be subject to a double blind peer review.  The Sales & Marketing Faculty Advisory Board’s Research Committee will serve as the review board and will determine whether or not a paper is acceptable. The Advisory Board will notify researchers of acceptance or rejection of their proposal. The final paper will be subject to the same review process. The number of words for the final paper is expected to be 3000 – 5000 words.

The intent of this Call for Papers is to provide Faculty members of HSMAI an opportunity to present their research while providing other HSMAI members with research that offers applications and solutions to hospitality marketing challenges of driving measurable short-term results while simultaneously keeping an eye on the future developments and opportunities.  Application NOT theory is what practitioners are seeking.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:  Proposals should be submitted electronically to Marcia Taylor, chair, Research Committee, HSMAI Sales & Marketing Faculty Advisory Board at taylormar@ecu.edu.  Deadline is Friday, March 3, 2010 no later than 5:00 pm (ET).  Final papers (after acceptance notification) will be due by April 2, 2010 no later than 5:00 pm (ET) for the Resort Marketing Strategy Conference and May 21, 2010, no later than 5:00 pm (ET) for the Revenue Management and Internet Marketing Strategy Conference.

Authors of accepted papers are required to be members of HSMAI (annual registration $60). HSMAI membership benefit information is available at: http://www.hsmai.org/about/membership.cfm.
